Book 14 – A Railway Journey Around the Cotswold and Malvern Hills in the 1950s and 1960s
My first book with the RCTS is a third using material solely from the photographic archive of the late R. E. (Ellis) James-Robertson (one of my late father’s old pals).
The majority of photographs are taken within the County of Worcester, nearly half within a few miles of the City itself. Compared with my first book of Ellis’s Worcester area photographs, I have extended the radius around the City to some 45 miles.
It includes photographs in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Oxfordshire, and Warwickshire. In particular, there is material along the branch from Leominster to Kington and Presteign, the Oxford to Fairford branch, and the Forest of Dean; areas not covered in the first book of Ellis’s photographs. The time period covered is from 1957 to 1965.
